Off late, Just Dial has been aggressively advertising on prime time TV. I know this sounds crazy/stupid/outlandish, but when I read their tag line, “India’s no. 1 local search engine”, the first thing that came to my mind was…what would Google feel about Just Dial?? As crazy as it may have been for anybody to imagine the domination of Google 10 years ago, who knows…maybe Just Dial could give Google a run for it’s money in India.
I’ve been using Just Dial’s phone service for several years now, not just in Bangalore but in Delhi and Hyderabad as well. Given that they’re “local” (city specific) and given that the Indian consumers still don’t have access to some of the local services (like Yahoo/Google Maps in the West), I think Just Dial is addressing (what I consider has been for a long time) a huge unmet need. Something tells me these guys are onto something big.

Initially I was using Just Dial. But Goole local has replaced my quest for local information in last one year. Reason for my quick substitution is that it is more informative (as free gainer of information-zero revenues from vendors) along with hassle free calling back instead of sole replying a mere sms.

I have moved from Justdial as well. Sometimes, Google is far far more quick and useful. Of course, it misses the fancy phone number!
