Hindustantimes.com gets an overhaul. The press release highlights key aspects of the refresh…
“Based on months of painstaking consumer and usability research, the new website, www.hindustantimes.com, has a neat, clean and clutter-free layout, easy to navigate drop-down menus and tab-based controls.”
Glad to hear people at least mention “consumer and usability research” in such press releases now. Usability has really come of age in this country (bear in mind, my frame of reference is, the situation 10 years ago in India)!
On another note, I couldn’t help noticing the similarity to Nytimes.com.
Anyways, moving on…
“With Microsoft as its technology partner, the new hindustantimes.com takes advantage of the powerful features of Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 combined with the out-of-the-box functionalities of the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007.”
Maybe it’s just me, or…why does this sort of information have to be shared with the press/public-at-large? Do people really want to know this geek-speak?

I liked the newer site, but yes, it looks too much like NYTimes. In fact, sometimes when browing with lot of tabs, when I return back to the HT tab, I take a few seconds before I realize I’m *not* on NYT!

So it wasn’t just me then.
